New Years Resolutions

As we joyously welcome in 2013, we make resolutions for personal changes we want to make for the upcoming year; go to the gym, eat better, staying touch with old friends, etc., we cannot forget that our furry loved ones are beginning a new year as well!

Battle the Bulge

The Huffington Post reports that an estimated 60 percent of domestic cats and dogs in the U.S. are overweight, and are thus at increased risk of diabetes, joint and mobility problems, and shortened life spans. Since our pets rely on our judgment for food quality and quantity, swap out the table scraps and fatty snacks for a well- balanced, high- quality pet food. Take care to read serving suggestions and abide by them .

Pet-proof Your Home

Many of us go overboard to provide our pets with a comfortable lifestyle in our home, but we may be overlooking everyday objects that may cause them harm. Make sure al chemicals and cleaning products are in a closed cupboard or on a high shelf where they cant reach the,. Dryer sheets and electrical cord are also a danger for curious pets that like to riffle thru the trash or chew so take precaution to keep these off the floor as well.

Get a Check Up

Pets need an annual doctor visit just like people do! Making sure to take your pet in for a check up and not just when they are sick, gives the vet a chance to detect any early signs of illness or health issues before they progress.
